About Me

Alexander McDowell is a Chicago-based director, cinematographer, and musician. He was born in the suburbs of Chicago and has always had an admiration for the arts. He started getting into the arts with music; he always loved to sing, even as a little kid, and at age 8 he started piano lessons, which opened up a whole new world for him. From there, he started making his own music and taught himself a few other instruments along the way. In High School, he started taking a film class called New Media, and that made him realize instantly that he needed to go into film. He realized that he could convert his original passion for music into film and tell the same stories through film.

Following his time in new media, Alex found the creation of stories to be fulfilling; he could use this medium to reach even more people he otherwise wouldn't be able to. He attended DePaul University to get a BFA in Film, concentrating in cinematography, and he still strives for originality and makes it a goal to constantly better his craft and tell enriching stories to help people.
